If you are an organization or an individual looking for sources of funding or information on how to run your nonprofit organization, Phoenixville Public Library's Foundation Center and AFP Affiliate Library Reference Collections are good places to begin.

 

These special collections, located in the Adult Reference section of Phoenixville Public Library, feature books, newsletters, newspapers, and online databases covering sources of grants, fundraising, philanthropy, and nonprofit management.

 

 

Foundation Center Collection

 

The Phoenixville Public Library is a Cooperating Collection of the Foundation Center. As a member of this nationwide network of libraries, community foundations, and other nonprofit agencies, the Phoenixville Public Library provides visitors with free public access to grantmaker directories, books on fundraising and nonprofit management, and the Foundation Center’s electronic databases, The Foundation Directory Online Professional and Foundation Grants to Individuals Online.  The Foundation Directory Online, a fully searchable database, includes detailed profiles of all active U.S. foundations, as well as an extensive file of recent grants awarded by the nation’s top funders.  Foundation Grants to Individuals provides searchable detailed descriptions of more than 6,200 foundation programs that fund students, artists, researchers, and other individual grantseekers.

AFP Affiliate Library Collection

 

The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Affiliate Library Collection includes selected works in philanthropy and fundraising, representing the fundamental knowledge base of the fundraising profession.  This collection is made possible by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Philadelphia Chapter as part of the Chapter's Grassroots Development Program, funded by the William Penn Foundation.

 

At its inception in 1987, the AFP Affiliate Library consisted of 25 books known as the Heritage Collection.  The current AFP Affiliate Library program contains:

General Information for Using the Foundation Center and AFP Affiliate Library Reference Collections

 

The materials of the collections are free to use during the Library's normal operating hours.  However, they may not be checked out.  The online resources are accessible from any of the Library's Internet workstations but require a password, which must be entered by the Reference Librarian or Computer Center Page.  The computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and time limits do apply.  Nominal charges apply for disks and printouts.

 

Assistance in using the resources of the Foundation Center and AFP Affiliate Library Collections is available from the Reference Librarian during normal Reference hours only.  Reference hours are posted in the Library and on the Library's Web site, and are subject to change.
